The state of Michigan now allows in-person voter registration up to 8:00 PM on Election Day, but there are more options the earlier you register. You can even register online up until October 19th. For a step-by-step guide, go to mi.gov/vote or click this link.

HOW TO VOTE

 IN PERSON

You can vote in person on Election Day, November 3rd, 2020, at a polling place near where you live.

  • Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

  • You have the right to vote if you are still in line by 8:00 PM.

  • You will be asked to show an ID, but can sign an affidavit if you forget to bring yours or don't have one (your vote will still be counted).

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your polling place may have moved. Click here to find your polling place.

  • You can now register to vote online using this link.

  • To register to vote on Election Day, visit your city or township clerk's office before 8 PM. Use this link to learn more.

BY MAIL (ABSENTEE)

In the state of Michigan, you can vote by mail without needing to give an excuse. Use this link to learn more about voting by mail and to request an absentee ballot.

  • Clerks must begin mailing requested absentee ballots to voters 40 days before the election (September 24).

  • Ballots must be received (not postmarked) by 8:00 PM on Election Day.

  • We recommend using an absentee ballot dropbox on Election Day. This reduces the load on the USPS and ensures that your ballot is counted!

  • You may only use a drop box in your jurisdiction. Click here to find your jurisdiction's drop box.
